A marine surveying company is seeking a SURVEYOR to conduct geophysical and geotechnical surveys in challenging offshore environments. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Hydrography or related fields and at least 8 years of relevant experience, particularly in offshore settings. Proficiency with data processing software and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues are essential. This role offers flexible day rates and the potential for remote work.

Formación

About the Client

Marine Survey and Environmental Consultancy company with accredited laboratories. Specialises in marine environment and offshore projects, providing geophysical, geotechnical and environmental survey services to oil & gas, renewables, submarine cables and ports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct geophysical and geotechnical surveys using specialised equipment.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, environmental policies and industry standards during all offshore operations.
  • Collect and record accurate data on seafloor depth, underwater obstructions and seabed conditions.
  • Configure and test data acquisition and processing software to ensure compatibility and proper operation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of survey procedures, data collection methods and equipment configurations.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with equipment, software and vessels during field operations.
  • Lead and supervise equipment deployment and recovery operations.
  • Process, interpret and monitor subsea, seismic and surface navigation data.
  • Assist the Survey Manager in preparing reports and procedures.
  • Conduct cross‑validation checks with different data sets to confirm accuracy.
  • Identify and mitigate data artefacts, noise and errors.
  • Analyse processed data to generate bathymetric charts, DTMs and other relevant data products.
  • Interpret geophysical data to identify seabed features, sub‑seabed structures and potential hazards.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Assist the Data Coordinator in configuring the online survey system.
  • Coordinate survey activities with the Data Centre team to ensure data quality.
  • Stay updated with advancements in hydrographic surveying technology and techniques.
  • Prepare detailed QA documentation and reports.
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by the manager.
Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hydrography, Marine Geomatics, Oceanography, Geophysics or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in geophysical and geotechnical surveying in offshore environments.
  • Proficiency with specialised data processing software and tools (QINSy, Qimera, NaviSuite, CARIS, QPS, HYPACK, SonarWiz, AutoCAD/AutoCHART, GIS applications).
  • Capability to work in challenging offshore environments including confined spaces, heights and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Independent and collaborative team player.
  • Knowledge of hydrographic survey principles and geophysical & geotechnical methods.
  • Experience working offshore on vessels for extended periods.
  • Relevant certifications such as Hydrographic Surveyor Certification, BOSIET, HUET.
  • Strong communication skills and basic supervisory skills.
  • Familiarity with data integration and visualisation techniques.
  • Good work ethic and attitude.
