Job Description

Fluor Plant Engineering is part of Fluor Corporation based in the U.S., a professional and technical solutions provider focusing on Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Maintenance (EPCM) with more than 45,000 employees and 34 offices in 50 different countries worldwide. Fluor Plant Engineering office is part of the E&C Energy Solutions Sustaining Capital Projects Business Line.

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to support the regional team (Spain) in HO location at Tarragona.

The purpose of this position is to plan and perform work requiring sound technical judgment in the evaluation, organization, and execution of project management assignments worldwide. This role has the responsibility to perform the essential job duties and functions as listed below with the overall objective of managing and/or coordinating project activities that are in compliance with the contract and ensure the safety, quality, value, timeliness, and Fluor profitability of the completed project. Performing assigned general duties of limited scope and level of responsibility, this position is designed to develop broader project management knowledge and experience. At this level, the role may have the responsibility as the only project engineer on a medium size project with full accountability for the general duties, or the responsibility for general duties on a larger or more complex segment of a very large project.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform basic project engineering functions involving monitoring of progress, preparation of procedures, documentation of communications and meetings, and identification/evaluation of project issues and problems.
2. Coordinate efforts of technical disciplines, vendors and licensors to ensure integrated and complete designs that meet project requirements and contractual obligations.
3. Review project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with supporting functional organization managers and/or subcontractors.
4. Support creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules, and monitoring activities, progress, and milestones against the plans.
5. Support creation and coordination of project effort hours, and cost estimates and budgets, and monitor progress and cost performance against these.
6. Support the preparation, delivery and coordination of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages.
7. Provide technical leadership in proposal preparation activities - engineering scope reviews, clarifications, manhour estimates, execution plans - for conceptual, FEED and detail engineering projects.
8. Other duties as assigned.

Basic Job Requirements

1. Six (6) years of experience in engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM) industry including the performance of functional tasks on projects with a well-developed understanding of procedures and interfaces.
2. Experience participating in risk assessments initiatives.
3. Experience in international locations and diverse cultural environments is recommended.
4. Previous successful performance in a project engineering position on a minimum of two (2) medium or large sized projects.
5. Detailed knowledge of Fluor’s software tools and databases preferred.
6. Ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships while meeting the company’s needs.
7. Flexible and adaptable approach, willingness to take on new work challenges; adaptable to changing circumstances.
8. Demonstrated strategic thinking, accountability, and adaptability skills.
9. Ability to set and maintain high standards of performance with responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments and tasks.
10. Customer focused with ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships while meeting the company’s needs.
11. Proactive reporting of progress and accomplishments of assignments and apply necessary follow-up to monitor progress and results of project tasks and assignments.
12. Analytical approach to problem solving and identifying potential solutions.
13. Technical and business writing skills
14. Basic computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, email, spreadsheets, electronic presentations, and project management tools.
15. Certification in project management suggested, for example Project Management Professional (PMP).
16. Previous experiences managing projects for Repsol and knowledge its specifications will be a plus.
17. Construction background and knowledge related will be a plus.

3. Participate in vendor trade shows and become familiar with new technologies and industry business direction.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and six (6) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements.
2. Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
3. Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
4. Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
5. Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
