Our Client

Our client is a leading high-technology organization specializing in advanced compound-semiconductor and photonic device development. The company delivers end-to-end solutions for next-generation optoelectronic and electronic systems, operating across applications such as high-speed communications, sensing, integrated photonics, and power or RF electronics. With vertically integrated capabilities spanning materials growth, device fabrication, testing, and process industrialization, the organization maintains a strong focus on innovation in III-V semiconductor platforms.

Mission

The Project Manager – III-V Technology will lead complex, cross‑functional projects involving the development, optimization, and scale‑up of products and systems based on Indium Phosphide (InP), Gallium Nitride (GaN), or related compound semiconductor platforms. This role combines deep technical expertise with disciplined project leadership to ensure timely and cost‑effective execution of technology roadmaps. The Project Manager will align R&D, design, process engineering, testing, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust, production‑ready solutions and drive continuous innovation across the full product lifecycle.

Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution

Plan, coordinate, and control R&D and industrialization projects aligned with technology and product roadmaps.

Define project scope, objectives, milestones, resources, budgeting, and risk strategies for III‑V semiconductor development programs.

Lead multidisciplinary technical execution from concept through prototyping, validation, and manufacturing transfer.

Establish schedules, track progress, and ensure adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards associated with III‑V materials and cleanroom processes.

Prepare and deliver progress reports, technical documentation, and decision‑support materials for internal and external stakeholders.

Drive continuous improvement based on lessons learned and industry best practices.

Technical Coordination & Device Implementation

Oversee physical implementation of photonic or electronic devices based on InP, GaN, or mixed III‑V platforms.

Coordinate layout, DRC verification, and integration with Process Design Kits (PDKs).

Collaborate with design and simulation teams working on lasers, detectors, modulators, HEMTs, RF devices, or high‑power structures depending on platform requirements.

Support process engineers in epitaxy, lithography, etching, metallization, passivation, wafer‑bonding, and other cleanroom steps relevant to InP or GaN.

Ensure accurate documentation of experiments, process flows, wafer tracking, and device characterization.

Team Collaboration & Technical Development

Mentor junior engineers and promote structured, high‑quality engineering practices.

Facilitate communication and alignment between R&D, device design, cleanroom, test engineering, and operations.

Contribute to technology evolution by supporting innovation initiatives and cross‑team problem‑solving.

Business & Technology Interface

Provide technical input for business development, customer discussions, and technology positioning.

Support technical marketing activities with insights on III‑V semiconductor performance and project outcomes.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Photonics, Optoelectronics, or a related discipline.

Minimum

7 years of experience in semiconductor or photonic technology project management, with hands‑on involvement in InP, GaN, or other III‑V device development.

Strong background in device design, fabrication processes, or process integration for III‑V materials.

Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary technology projects from concept to manufacturing ramp‑up.

Experience with epitaxy (MOCVD / MBE), lithography, dry and wet etching, metallization, wafer‑level bonding, passivation, or similar processes for InP or GaN platforms.

Proficiency with photonic / electronic design tools (KLayout, Cadence, IPKISS, Lumerical, Silvaco, COMSOL) and strong familiarity with PDKs and DRC methodologies.

Hands‑on experience with optical, electrical, RF, or high‑frequency testing relevant to III‑V devices.

Strong communication, analytical, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
