Job Responsibilities

• Must be located in one of the following: US, UK, Ireland, Poland, Spain, Greece, Hungary, Belgium, Romania, Ukraine, South Africa, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, or Columbia.

• Principal Biostatistician – RShiny specific:
  1. Sets up and maintains excellent R‑based computing environment, adds missing features to apps, fixes bugs, screens market for data visualisation tools and integrates internal/external apps.
  2. Organises and performs user training, available for user support on demand.
  3. Stays up to date with latest technical possibilities and maintains excellent knowledge in R and R‑Shiny, clinical data structures, and programming.
  4. Expert in functional and object‑oriented programming, Javascript/Typescript, HTML, WebGL, CUDA/GPU‑programming, cloud‑computing, Github, web‑hosting, and Machine Learning.
  5. Strong communication skills; works independently and collaboratively; presents complex issues clearly.
• Serves as a statistical department resource, mentors biostatisticians, oversees training plans, conducts training sessions.
• Directs activities of other biostatistics personnel on assigned projects, ensuring timely completion; provides independent review of project work.
• Provides support across all statistical tasks during the lifecycle of the project, from protocol to CSR.
• Prepares or oversees the preparation of Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs); collaborates with sponsor if required.
• May act as Lead Biostatistician for protocol statistics, randomisation schedule, and clinical study report input.
• Creates or reviews programming specifications for analysis datasets, tables, listings, and figures.
• Reviews SAS annotated CRFs, database design, and other documentation to ensure protocol criteria are met.
• Implements company objectives and creates alternative solutions to address business and operational challenges.
• Interfaces with other departmental project team representatives; prepares for internal meetings, contributes ideas, demonstrates respect for others.
• Conducts and participates in verification and quality control of project deliverables.
• May lead complex or multiple projects (e.g., submissions, integrated analyses) and attend regulatory agency meetings.
• Manages scheduling and time constraints across multiple projects; sets priorities; adapts workload; proactively communicates any difficulties.
• Monitors progress against milestones; identifies out‑of‑scope tasks and escalates.
• Provides statistical programming support as needed.
• May participate in DSMB/DMC activities, including charter development and serving as an independent or voting biostatistician.
• Provides input and reviews; follows applicable SOPs, WIs, and regulatory guidelines (e.g. ICH).
• Maintains well‑organized, complete, up‑to‑date project documentation and QC documents; ensures inspection readiness.
• Supports business development activities by contributing to proposals, budgets, and attending sponsor bid defence meetings.
• Performs other work‑related duties as assigned.
• Minimal travel may be required.

Qualification Requirements

• Previous R‑Shiny experience is required.
• PhD or MS in biostatistics, statistics, mathematics, or data science with a strong emphasis on computing/informatics.
• At least two years of experience as a statistician in Pharma, Biotech, or similar sector.
• Excellent R and R‑Shiny knowledge; thorough experience with clinical data structures and programming.
• Expert in functional and object‑oriented programming.
• Knowledgeable in Javascript/Typescript, HTML, WebGL.
• Experience in CUDA/GPU‑programming, cloud‑computing, Github, web‑hosting.
• Strong communication skills; works independently and collaboratively; presents complex issues clearly.
• Team player.
• Fluency in English.
