Overview
Background :
PKL Services Inc. will be providing Planned Maintenance Interval (PMI) Repair and Squadron Support Services on MH-60R & MH-60S aircraft in support of PMA-299 Naval Air Systems Command. All work will be performed at Naval Air Station (NAS) Rota, Spain.

Summary :
The NDI Technician / Aircraft Mechanic (MH-60) performs scheduled PMI maintenance on aircraft airframe, power plants, corrosion control and painting, electrical and related fuel systems for T / M / S / aircraft hired to maintain. Duties include performing flight line essential services as directed.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, surface finish removal, corrosion control, preservation / de-preservation services supporting the following aircraft and aeronautical equipment systems: Airframe / Structural Components and Assemblies, Landing Gear and Arresting Systems (as applicable), Hydraulic / Pneumatic Systems, Automatic Flight Control / Wing or Rotor Fold Systems.
- Non-Destructive testing of aircraft parts, structures and components as required.
- Perform the full range of aircraft mechanic duties: disassembles components / systems, troubleshoots, replaces, modifies, repairs reassembles components / systems and tests a variety of systems (e.g., hydraulic, oil, fuel, landing gear assemblies and pressurization systems).
- Installs, adjusts, aligns, troubleshoots, and performs final functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, components, and prototypes (airframe, landing gear, power plant, rotor drive, gear boxes, rotor heads, rotor blades, pumps, and hydraulic, pressurization, utility, fuel, oil, pneumatic, and flight control systems, safety and survival equipment) during overhaul, repair, or modification.
- Disassembles components / systems and determines the required repairs, reassembles, and reinstalls on aircraft. Installs, aligns and adjusts complete new systems. Connects related systems to newly installed or repaired units. Completes check out procedures to ensure proper operation.
- May be required to overhaul, repair parts, accessories, and components of hydraulic / pneudraulic systems, environmental control systems, flight control systems, and vent systems. Visually checks components to locate worn, dirty, or poorly adjusted parts and accessories. Corrects problems by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts. Looks up replacement parts in manuals or compares with samples. Obtains standard parts that are identified. Upon completion of these repairs, makes adjustments and settings such as cable tension, seat settings.
- Uses a wide variety of precision measuring instruments and hand tools to perform tasks (calipers, protractors, snap rings, height and depth dial indicators, micrometers, torque wrenches, pliers, wrenches, fixtures, templates, precision dial calipers, feeler gauges, etc.).
- Duties may include minor preservation on various aircraft and engines, including preservation inspections (inspect aircraft for leaks, MLG/NLG shock struts for cracks, damage, security, and leakage; lubricating MLG and NLG strut pistons).
- Knowledge of makeup, operation, installation, and adjustment of major interrelated systems (fuel, hydraulics, flight control, instrumentation, engines, landing gear, airframe, control surfaces).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams; ability to perform work to close tolerances.
- Knowledge and skill in the use of standard and specialized tools and test equipment (fixtures, templates, scales, test stands, external power sources).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current US passport if not a citizen of Spain.
- 8 years’ current or previous experience performing complex helicopter mechanical work.
- Past maintenance experience with MH-60 helicopters preferred.
- Shall be able to obtain a NAS Rota base access card or DoD CAC card privileges to ensure access to flight line workspaces and critical information systems.
- Qualified and certified IAW NAS 410, NAS Certification and Qualification of Non-destructive Test Personnel.
- Must have completed a four-month NDI course given at NAS Pensacola or equivalent.
- Must be qualified and certified IAW NAS 410, NAS Certification and Qualification of Nondestructive Test Personnel.
- Must be certified in the five basic NDI methods: Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, and Radiography.
- If deemed by the Site Manager, acquire all Support Equipment licenses required for the position.
- Shall perform requirements in a manner that meet or exceeds CNAFINST 4790.2 series, NAMPSOPs, MRCs and local NAMSOP instructions.
- Knowledge of naval maintenance publications, maintenance requirement cards.
- Proficient with NALCOMIS OOMA automated maintenance documentation system.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Will traverse into high noise workshop areas or near active jet aircraft operating ramps.
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to perform repetitive motion.
- This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching, and climbing.
- May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers.
- May be exposed at times to moderate discomforts such as heat, cold, rain, wind.
- FIT for Duty Physical is required
- May require DOT and Respiratory Physicals
