A cult classic on the prettyPasseig del Born, Miramelindo is packed to its wooden rafters every weekend when hordes of talkative locals descend to make merry and take advantage of cheap homemade cocktails. Several flavours are mixed in big bowls on the bar and for a handful of euros you can sample coconut and cognac concoctions or a screwdriver made with Cava (Spanish champagne).

If the bar area on the ground floor is packed you can often find a wicker chair on the mezzanine overlooking the action – just follow the spiral staircase up by the piano. It’s almost unheard of in Barcelona, but Miramelindo’s toilets are both clean and functioning.
