A leading global asset management firm is seeking an Investment Associate for their Clean Energy team in Madrid. The ideal candidate will lead financial modeling, assist in due diligence, and require a background in renewable energy and investment banking. Fluency in English and Spanish is essential. The role is office-based, 4 days per week, with a focus on acquiring and managing clean energy assets.

Formación

• 2-3 years relevant experience in investment banking or asset management focused on renewables.

Department Overview :

Clean Energy

The Capital Dynamics Clean Energy (CE) team makes direct equity investments in carbon-reducing renewable energy power generation from late-stage development to commercial operations.

Capital Dynamics is one of the largest managers of onshore wind assets and subsidy-free solar PV in Europe and has a growing footprint in the region. The team strives to achieve enhanced value by de-risking projects from the end of their development phases and optimizing performance and capital structure into commercial operations.

Role Purpose :

Capital Dynamics seeks to hire a first-year Investment Associate to join our Clean Energy Investment team in Madrid.

The Associate will be a core team member, focused on acquiring and divesting assets, building financial models, conducting due diligence on new opportunities, and liaising with all relevant stakeholders (including consultants, advisors, investment committees, etc.).

You will support transaction work streams during due diligence, ongoing valuations, investor reporting, capital raising, and asset management of the current portfolio.

Key tasks and responsibilities :

• Lead the preparation of automated financial models and conduct sensitivities.
• Assist in drafting investment committee memorandums.
• Support due diligence during acquisitions and execution during divestitures.
• Assist in financing activities related to investments.
• Conduct market analysis and research to support investment decisions.
• Work with Asset Management to monitor and optimize investment performance post-acquisition.
• Perform sensitivity analyses to evaluate project performance under different scenarios.

Key Competencies :

• Proven experience working on clean energy infrastructure or renewable energy deals in Europe.
• Exceptional financial modeling skills, including debt financing understanding.
• Knowledge of legal, tax frameworks, and documentation for direct/infrastructure investments.
• Understanding of financial ratios such as yield, IRR, and NPV.
• Good knowledge of accounting, finance, company valuation, and asset management.
• Familiarity with methodologies like leveraged buyout, forecasting, financial statement analysis, and discounted cash flows.

Skills and Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree from a top-tier university.
• 2-3 years relevant experience in investment banking, asset management, Big-4, or consultancy, focused on renewables, energy M&A, or infrastructure.
• Experience with onshore wind, solar PV, BESS, etc.
• Knowledge of support frameworks for renewable investments.
• Strong investment judgment, risk awareness, and exposure management skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Language skills :

• Fluent in English and Spanish (for Madrid candidates), with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Additional languages (Italian, German, Japanese, Korean, Swedish, Finnish) are a plus.

Further notice :

• This role is office-based in Madrid, working 4 days per week.
• Candidates must be able to travel for in-person interviews, including technical assessments.
