Overview

The Insurance and Claim Manager will act as the main point of contact for all questions related to Group Insurance, managing the process from A to Z. This includes supporting the yearly renewal of various Group insurances, local data collection, follow-up on outstanding claims, and continuously improving insurance processes. It is an A to Z position. Ensure that Impala Terminals Group companies have the appropriate insurance for operations and projects according to current legislation and regulations. Provide information for contract negotiations, coverage, and claims management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities, Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the central point of contact for all types of insurances, including cargo, stocks, property, ports and terminals, liability / maritime liability, maritime hull, crime, non-payment insurance, and political risk.
• Review exposures from business activities to ensure proper coverage under Group programs.
• Conduct risk assessments on current company affairs, presenting conclusions and action plans.
• Develop and control the budget for insurance policies and the insurance area.
• Respond promptly to coverage inquiries and support marine cargo insurance declarations.
• Assist in concluding new business opportunities by developing insurance solutions.
• Liaise with the parent companies’ global insurance broker to support regional companies with local insurance requirements.
• Organize construction insurance for projects, monitor progress, and address coverage extensions or challenges.
• Support mergers, acquisitions, and divestments by modifying existing insurance programs.
• Review contract terms, negotiate modifications to manage risks.
• Review counterparty insurances for compliance.
• Handle major claims, manage claims to conclusion.
• Manage third-party recoveries related to subrogation or uninsured losses.
• Provide insurance training and support loss prevention efforts.
• Seek opportunities to optimize processes and improve insurance programs.
• Report management information.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• At least 7 years of experience in insurance within a multinational or insurance company.
• Experience in marine cargo, general liability, property insurance, claims handling, among others.
• Experience in commercial, corporate, broker, or underwriter insurance.
• Structured, organized, detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.
• Aligned with strategic vision.
• Customer-oriented, comfortable in multicultural environments.
• Ability to perform under pressure, good time management, and willingness to travel.
• Fluent in English and Spanish; additional languages are a plus.
