A leading banking service provider is seeking a Head of Legal & Compliance in Spain to manage compliance and regulatory relations, ensuring legal adherence without hindering innovation. The ideal candidate should be fluent in Spanish and possess strong knowledge of financial regulations. This role involves leading compliance reporting and acting as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).

Your mission is to protect bunq from legal and compliance risks in Spain, so we can keep offering seamless banking services to users who value independence, mobility, and sustainability.

You’ll be the main point of contact for Spanish regulators and will make sure bunq’s local operations stay fully compliant, transparent, and fair.

Take ownership
As our Head of Legal & Compliance Spain, you’ll :
  • Lead local compliance and regulatory relations: maintain an open, constructive dialogue with Spanish regulators and own all compliance reporting for the Spanish branch.
  • Oversee local legal and regulatory framework: identify relevant Spanish laws and regulations, set bunq’s local compliance policy, and monitor its implementation together with our central teams.
  • Manage legal correspondence and oversight: coordinate responses to legal matters, align actions with central functions, and ensure timely and transparent communication with all parties.
  • Strong knowledge of banking and financial regulation: including areas like compliance, offboarding, GDPR, CIS, ISO, AI Act, PCI DSS, DORA, and PSD2.
  • Experience with audits and risk-based compliance: you know how to identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks.

Spanish fluency: you speak Spanish as your mother tongue and can communicate confidently with regulators and partners.

You know how to maintain compliance without slowing down innovation or product growth.

You’re ready to represent bunq legally in Spain, including as the appointed Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).
