A leading biopharmaceutical company in Barcelona is seeking an experienced scientific engagement professional responsible for global strategies. You will drive engagement, collaborate with experts, and define scientific needs for clinical programs. Ideal candidates should have an MD/Pharm D and at least 7 years in medical affairs, clinical development, or expertise engagement. The role demands excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a complex environment. Travel may be required up to 30%. Competitive salary and benefits await the right candidate.

Formación

  • Minimum 7 years of combined experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development or KEEs engagement roles.

This is what you will do:

EHP is a field-based scientific position responsible for the creation and execution of global scientific engagement strategy for designated programs of Alexion’s pipeline within a designated Therapeutic Area (TA).

EHP is working closely with Regional MAPs (APAC, EU, LATAM, NA) dedicated to his/her TA to ensure ESE strategies and initiatives cover TA/GPTs/COM global needs.

He/she will closely collaborate with a network of Key External Experts (KEEs), TA ESE Head and GPTs on designated trials, as well as collaborate on the cross‑program scientific engagement needs within the TA.

EHP will have key responsibility to establish and maintain relationships with a global network of KEEs who will advise Alexion’s clinical development strategy and trial execution within a TA.

EHP will be part of “Beyond Complenment” that cover TA's like Metabolic, Neuro‑Ophtalmo, Endocrinology, Rare Cardiomyopathy, Rare Oncology and modalities like cell‑therapy and genomic.

EHP will work very closely with Global Clinical Development, Global Clinical Operations, Country Operations, Global Medical Affairs, and all cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure the successful design and performance of Alexion’s clinical trials, from early phases of development up to successful confirmatory studies. This includes scientific engagement activities to advise on protocol design, and enhance trial recruitment and retention.

He/she will also maintain a very close collaboration with TA Head of ESE and Local MAPs, to ensure proper Scientific Engagement activities are planned for and driven at global, regional and country level, and regular bi‑directional updates and alignment on strategic early scientific engagement plans for designated programs within a TA.

EHP will report directly to the Global ESE Head or ESE TA Head.

You will be responsible for:
  • Build and drive the global scientific engagement plan for designated programs within TA.
  • Establish and manage the relationship with a collaborative network of KEEs who will advise Alexion's clinical development strategy and trial execution.
  • Define the scientific engagement needs for each program in cross‑functional collaboration with Global Project Team (GPT) members, including:
    • Advisory Boards
    • KOL mapping & profiling
    • Medical Conferences engagements
    • Scientific Exchange meetings
    • Expert training
    • Scientific Exchange & Medical Intelligence @ Global level
  • Develop and maintain the highest scientific and medical expertise in the relevant fields and be acknowledged internally and externally as an expert & resource in the assigned therapeutic area / indications.
  • Identify and address relevant insights gaps within a network of global KEEs.
  • Obtain valuable and actionable insights from the field to be shared with internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely and informative scientific/medical exchanges with customers and internal partners, in accordance with compliance policies and with legal requirements.
  • Global R&D Clinical Trial Support.
  • Support Alexion in optimizing the identification of clinical trial sites and investigators.
  • Enhance clinical operations efforts to improve recruitment & retention.
  • Strong collaboration with (but not limited to):
    • Global Project Team cross‑functional members
    • Global Clinical Development & R&D TAs
    • Global Clinical Operations
    • Country Operations
    • Global Medical Affairs teams / market companies
You will need to have:
  • MD or Pharm D
  • Minimum 7 years of combined experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development or KEEs engagement roles
  • Knowledge of Clinical Development, R&D Operations, Healthcare systems and Market access environment
  • Previous experience in rare diseases is an advantage
  • Willingness to travel (up to 30% of time)
  • Fluency in English is a must, Spanish preferable, other relevant languages is an advantage
