Fullstack Developer (BQA / NATO) Long-Term Contract Remote (Europe)
Role Overview
You will be responsible for designing building and maintaining robust full-stack applications in a high security environment. You will interface directly with stakeholders in BQA / NATO projects ensure compliance with strict standards conduct code reviews and contribute to the architecture and roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, test, deploy and maintain full-stack software that meets NATO / BQA requirements
- Translate security and compliance requirements into code-level solutions
- Perform peer code reviews and enforce best practices
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve performance, reliability and scalability issues
- Contribute to architectural decisions and system design
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders and security auditors
- Write clear technical documentation
Mandatory Requirements
- Security / Compliance / Defense Domain Experience
- Minimum 5 years in roles involving security, defense, government contracts or regulated environments
- Proven experience working in or with NATO / defense / security frameworks
- Full-Stack Technical Expertise
- At least 3 years hands-on experience building and maintaining both backend and frontend systems
- Strong backend skills in one or more: Java, C# or Go
- Strong frontend skills with React, Angular or similar
- Proficient in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, WebSockets etc.
- Deep understanding of relational (e.g. PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases
- DevOps & Infrastructure Skills
- Experience with CI / CD pipelines, automated testing, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible etc.)
- Security Cryptography & Hardening
- Hands-on knowledge of encryption, key management, secure coding practices
- Experience with threat modeling, OWASP, secure authentication & authorization
- Familiarity with auditing compliance (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST etc.)
- Architectural & Design Capability
- Ability to make architectural decisions for large systems under security constraints
- Experience in microservices, event-driven systems or distributed systems
- Soft Skills & Process Discipline
- Excellent English communication (written verbal)
- Strong documentation skills
- Ability to operate in structured environments (requirement tracking, code reviews, QA audits)
- Self-discipline, attention to detail, accountability
Logistics & Eligibility
- Residency in Europe (EU or permissible location)
- Authorized to work remotely under contract
- Able and willing to undergo background / security checks
Preferred (But Not Mandatory)
- Experience specifically in NATO or BQA contracts
- Knowledge of domain-specific protocols or standards used in defense
- Certifications in security (CISSP, CISA etc.)
- Experience with real-time systems, embedded systems
