Drone / UAV Manufacturer

Basque Country, Spain

Salary: €45,000-€50,000 base plus benefits

Airbotics Talent are exclusively partnered with an exciting Drone manufacturer based in the Basque Country region of Spain to hire an Electrical Engineer. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work on highly innovative, cutting edge technology, developing first of their kind systems in a entrepreneurial scale-up environment.

Our client are seeking an experienced and hands-on Electrical Engineer to lead key areas of electrical and electronics design, integration, and certification.

The Role

You’ll be joining a high-calibre technical team and taking end-to-end ownership of electrical and electronics development across the platform. This is a high-impact role in a fast-paced environment, offering the opportunity to work on advanced aerial robotics systems and help shape a next-generation UAS product.

Working cross-functionally with mechanical and software teams, you will design and deliver robust, scalable electrical systems while driving certification strategies and quality improvements across the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own electrical design from concept through schematic, layout, validation, and integration.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and software teams to define system requirements and ensure seamless integration.
  • Lead component selection with a view to performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Build and test PCBs in-house, taking designs from prototype to production.
  • Debug, validate, and resolve issues in development and fielded systems.
  • Take charge of certification planning and execution, coordinating internal and external partners as needed.
  • Identify and onboard suppliers or labs to support testing, manufacturing, and compliance efforts.
  • Support continuous improvement of development processes with an eye toward quality and scale.
  • Mentor interns or junior engineers, contributing to knowledge sharing across the team.

The Person

We\'re looking for a systems-minded electrical engineer who’s confident taking designs from idea to field deployment. You’ll be someone who thrives in dynamic, cross-functional teams and enjoys balancing technical depth with real-world constraints.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A track record of designing complex electronic systems for UAV or flying robotic platforms
  • Deep understanding of analog/digital circuit design, power electronics, and communication protocols such as UART, SPI, CAN, and I2C.
  • Strong proficiency with PCB design and layout tools (e.g., Altium or similar).
  • Confidence in testing and debugging electronics using lab tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Previous experience working through regulatory approvals or certification efforts in global markets.
  • An eye for scalability, from component choice to manufacturability and long-term robustness.
  • Exposure to RF design, wireless communication systems, or drone platforms would be a strong asset.
  • Experience in startups or high-growth engineering teams is also a plus.
  • Self-motivated, delivery-focused, and ready to take full ownership of your work, with the curiosity to keep learning and the pragmatism to ship high-quality hardware.
