ROLE SUMMARY:

Sotogrande International School is seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of Environmental Systems and Societies for an immediate start date on a part-time contract.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teaching ESS and another science or humanities subject at higher and standard level within both the DP and MYP programmes.
• Design and implement an engaging ESS curriculum that maximizes student learning opportunities.
• Plan lessons in alignment with IBDP standards and ensure timely submission of lesson plans.
• Demonstrate expert-level subject knowledge and collaborate with colleagues for shared learning.
• Create a stimulating and well-organized classroom environment for effective teaching.
• Provide constructive and timely feedback on students' work to enhance learning outcomes.
• Encourage student participation in goal setting and academic progress tracking.
• Assign purposeful and differentiated homework that reinforces and extends classroom learning.
• Maintain detailed student records and ensure seamless information transfer between classes or schools.
• Contribute actively to the whole school community through collaboration and team initiatives.
• Teachers are usually expected to act as a personal tutor and or become involved in other extra curricular activities such as the personal project or extended essays.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• A degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field
• A teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent) with IBDP teaching experience.
• Proven expertise in ESS with a strong grasp of interdisciplinary teaching methodologies.
• Experience in IB curriculum planning, assessment, and evaluation.
• A passion for inquiry-based learning, sustainability, and environmental awareness.
• Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
• Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
