The role will be at Associate or Vice President level depending on experience. It sits within the Net Zero Cities Team and will support project leads by providing financial advisory support in the origination, development, and due diligence of sustainability-linked projects across cities. These projects span sectors including energy, mobility, waste, the circular economy, and others.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in project or infrastructure finance. Exposure to project finance debt instruments and financial structuring is considered advantageous, though not essential. A focus on sustainability is not a prerequisite. The candidate will work closely with Vice Presidents, Managing Directors, a Project Manager, and a team of analysts. A strong willingness to learn and grow within a dynamic, climate-focused organization is crucial.

Responsibilities

1. Contribute to the identification of innovative and relevant financial instruments to enable the successful financing of projects across multiple subsectors and parts of the capital structure.
2. Support financial risk analysis and provide recommendations and potential mitigants.
3. Manage the due diligence process, including the development and review of financial models.
4. Address unexpected challenges to help deliver successful outcomes.
5. Collaborate with colleagues to engage effectively with stakeholders in a variety of contexts and from diverse backgrounds.
6. Adapt communication style and approach when interacting with different stakeholders.

Qualifications

1. Minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience in debt advisory or the financing of energy/infrastructure projects, particularly in project finance or public-private partnerships (PPPs).
2. Experience in the origination of financial instruments.
3. Prior financial advisory experience is advantageous.
4. Specific and relevant experience in developed markets and investment environments.
5. Must be fluent in written and spoken English (C1 level).
6. Fluency in an additional language is required.
7. Demonstrated project management experience.
