Our Munich office focuses on commercial operations, ensuring the delivery of our innovative products to the German market. We're inviting professionals to join us in shaping the future of medicine through our groundbreaking mRNA technology.

We are seeking two proactive and analytically minded Working Students to join our Market Access and Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) team. In this hybrid role based in Munich (with home office flexibility), you will support the integration of health economics models into Moderna’s data science infrastructure, contribute to AI-enhanced automation tools, and help drive internal communication and strategic access projects. This opportunity offers hands-on experience at the intersection of biotech innovation, real-world data, and public health strategy, while working up to 20 hours per week (increasing to 40 hours during semester vacations) for a minimum duration of 6 months.

Here’s What You’ll Do

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the integration of advanced health economics analyses into Moderna’s data science environment.
  • Automating model reporting and outputs through development of R scripts and Shiny applications.
  • Collaborating on exploratory AI-driven features such as prompt-based restructuring of model results.
  • Developing tools and prototypes that support data visualization and reporting efficiency.

Your responsibilities will also include

  • Performing ad-hoc web-based research for policy, vaccination, or health system topics.
  • Assisting in the preparation of internal communications and slide materials on topics such as burden of disease, access strategies, and vaccination uptake.
  • Coordinating logistics and content support for internal meetings.
  • Taking ownership of selected sub-projects related to Market Access or HEOR operations.
  • Supporting daily team activities and contributing to a collaborative, mission-driven culture.

The key Moderna Mindsets you’ll need to succeed in the role:

“We digitize everywhere possible using the power of code to maximize our impact on patients.”

This mindset is foundational to this role: your work will directly support the digitization of health economic models and reporting tools, ensuring Moderna continues to lead at the interface of science and technology.

“We obsess over learning. We don’t have to be the smartest—we have to learn the fastest.”

As a Working Student, you will be exposed to a fast-paced, high-impact biotech environment. Your ability to quickly absorb new information, adapt to technical frameworks, and apply emerging AI tools will define your success.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table

  • Proficiency in R, including writing modular, reusable functions and vectorized operations
  • Experience in R shiny

  • Practical experience deploying models in a collaborative data science platform such as Domino Data Lab (preferred), Dataiku, or similar is ideal but not required.
  • Knowledge of health economics models and analyses is ideal but not required.
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and a keen interest in numbers.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications.
