A leading manufacturer in automotive solutions located in Bonn is seeking a Product Development Engineer specializing in injection molding. You will be responsible for innovative design and development of plastic components. Key qualifications include a degree in Plastic Engineering, project management experience, and proficiency in English. This full-time position involves leading multiple projects and ensuring adherence to design for manufacturing principles. The role requires excellent communication and a willingness to travel internationally.
Responsible for innovative and agile design / concept development for injection molded plastic battery housing and underbody shields for automotive applications.
Develop alongside the customer quote and projects new differentiating molding concepts. Ttransfer release and update / distribute these ideas in design guidelines. Train the organization and implement lesson learned by following the Core maturity level development process
Be the Subject matter owner for injection molding concepts and lead in customer projects for your application field. Support other fields of injection molding topics.
Lead multiple projects and coordinate stakeholders including the to be the knowledge hub for injection molding
Plan and Conduct samplings and execute design of experiments. Ensure documentation evaluation and presentation of results.
Responsible for product development with focus on advanced materials as fiber reinforced plastics (composites) and other lightweight materials in the area of new mobility
Creation and execution of prototype related Design Verification Plan (DVP) internal and with external partners
Responsible for project definition and execution in accordance with the global development plan incl. budget and capacity planning project reviews
Define or update the Generic D-FMEA for the product
Support the definition of optimal test equipment based on process performance and economics in collaboration with the production plants
Analyze customers specifications to support quotes and interpret clarity and analyze system and customer specifications
Ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFMA) in projects
Technical University degree in Plastic engineering or comparable
Experience in creating designs for injection molding ideally for the area of automotive / new mobility
Experience with injection molding simulation tools
Proven skills in product development
Proven skills in project management
Background on overmolding of composite sheets & Components with filled materials is a strong plus
Self-driven independent character (DoE material & process know how validation methods)
You enjoy working structured and independent in a multinational and -cultural working environment
Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English German Language is preferred
Willingness to travel international
