Title : Project Manager - BESS and Solar PV

Location : Germany - site visits as required, remote working

About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing renewable energy developer specializing in high-quality ground‑mounted PV systems and both stand‑alone and co‑located battery storage projects. As a start‑up small company, they operate with a modern, flat‑hierarchy structure that enables quick decision‑making and a strong commitment to the energy transition.

The company follows a remote‑first approach: while management is based in Cologne and Berlin, the team works primarily from home within Germany. Current projects are concentrated in Brandenburg, with future deployments planned across Germany and occasional international travel for supplier and partner engagements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead full lifecycle project delivery from implementation planning through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, quality, and reporting to senior management.
  • Manage the complete procurement process: scope definition, tendering, bid evaluation, contract negotiations (VOB / B, BGB), and supplier performance.
  • Drive claims and variation management to safeguard commercial outcomes.
  • Coordinate electrical and civil implementation planning with external engineering partners.
  • Ensure plans are complete, compliant with relevant standards, and technically integrated.
  • Lead and manage external partners including engineering offices, specialist consultants, site management teams, and subcontractors.
  • Conduct regular in‑person site visits across Germany, especially within Brandenburg.
  • Support on‑site commissioning activities for PV and battery storage systems, including testing, acceptance procedures, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all grid requirements and coordinate with distribution and transmission system operators.
  • Participate in customer visits and assist in identifying new project opportunities.
  • Contribute to improving internal processes, standards, and quality frameworks.
Requirements and Experience
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, Renewable Energies, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent. (Technician / Master Craftsman with extensive project experience also considered.)
  • 5–10 years’ experience managing PV, BESS, or similar infrastructure projects.
  • Medium‑voltage certification (or willingness to obtain one promptly).
  • Strong proficiency with Google Workspace.
  • Excellent German and English language skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to ~50%.
  • Strong communicator with a confident, solution‑oriented, and collaborative approach.
