For Our Sqs Group, we are looking for a candidate who will:

  1. Actively participate in the broad science program at the Sqs instrument.
  2. Develop new optical systems for cutting-edge time-resolved experiments at the shortest (few femtoseconds to attoseconds) timescales.
  3. Integrate and improve current optical systems for time-resolved multi-wavelength pump-probe experiments, especially extending towards the UV-VUV wavelength regime.
  4. Develop individual research activities at the European XFEL.
  5. Support and consult instrument users for their experimental campaigns.

Qualifications include:

  1. PhD in Physics or an equivalent academic degree.
  2. Proven experience with femtosecond optical lasers, including dispersion management and optical design.
  3. Experience with pump-probe experiments on gas phase targets.
  4. Practical knowledge of UHV technologies and/or practical experience at large-scale facilities (e.g., SR, FEL) is an asset.
  5. Knowledge of programming languages such as MATLAB, C++, or Python.

Become part of a vibrant international and multicultural team of scientists, engineers, technical, and administrative staff. Be involved in cutting-edge scientific and technical progress and participate in our international networks. Experience our atmosphere of tolerance and respect.
