In your PhD project you will identify behavioural, physiological and metabolic biomarkers in sows during pregnancy and lactation that can be used as predictors of piglet health outcomes.

This project givesyou the chance to learn from two research groups involved in the fields of nutritional physiology and animal welfare science, with the goal of improving animal welfare without compromising efficiency.

What to bring:

  • University degree in veterinary medicine, agriculture, or biology or a related field.
  • Knowledge of animal behaviour and animal physiology, highly motivated to work with pigs.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical data analysis
  • Ability to work in a team, commitment to problem solving and completing tasks, initiative and creativity.
  • At least C1 German, and good verbal and written knowledge of English.
  • Class B driver’s license and willingness to travel.

What we offer:

At FBN, you will be welcomed by a dedicated, multidisciplinary team. We will support you with a structured onboarding. We will also help you with any questions you may have regarding your arrival in the Rostock region. We also offer our employees

  • an additional company pension (VBL),
  • 30 days annual leave,
  • flexible working hours and
  • the possibility to work remotely.

The compatibility of work and family life is important to us at the FBN, which is why we stand out for our certified family friendliness. Employees with children also find optimal working conditions thanks to our cooperation with the local kindergarten and parent-child rooms.
