Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated MAIT Engineer (f/m/d) to join our innovative In-Space Manufacturing team. You will support the development activities of groundbreaking in-space manufacturing technology, including the design and production of breadboards, execution of testing and qualification activities, and the assembly and integration of flight hardware. Your work will directly impact the success of space missions and enable deployment of critical components in orbit.

Dcubed is accelerating space exploration missions with cost effective and durable space hardware, solutions and subsystems. Our projects push the boundaries of technology and have implications for the company and the industry.

Responsibilities
  • Daily, you will be solving problems – most likely ones that no one has run into before and support the In-Space Manufacturing (ISM) team with the development of custom Mechanical Systems & Hardware
  • Design mechanical breadboards and GSEs
  • Produce engineering drawings and coordinate production of mechanical parts with external suppliers
  • Manufacture mechanical parts in-house (eg CNC milling of metal parts, FDM and SLS printing of polymers)
  • Assemble prototypes and flight hardware
  • Perform testing activities from component to system level
  • Participate in qualification campaigns and acceptance testing of flight hardware
  • Support customer during final integration of our payloads
  • Produce technical documentation and participate in reviews with external stakeholders
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years' experience working with space hardware
  • Appreciation for craftsmanship and creativity in industrial/mechanical applications
  • Experience with milling and CNC machining
  • Experience with mechanical design and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and rapidly paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team
  • Eligible to work in Germany
Nice to have
  • Familiarity with space environments (2+ years)
  • Interest in designing and prototyping independently (3D printing, welding, grinding, machining)
  • Knowledge of structural analysis tools (FEM)
  • Experience with mechanisms for high-precision structures (RF or Optical Payloads)
