The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and the world’s largest humanitarian organisation. The ShareTheMeal app, a pioneering fundraising and awareness‑raising platform, is part of WFP’s Private Partnerships and Fundraising Division. The Berlin team (and remote colleagues) focuses on increasing funds raised by further developing the app and fostering user engagement through marketing and communication initiatives.
Education : Bachelor’s degree (a master’s degree is preferred).
Work history : At least 5 years of relevant experience in a data analyst role or similar, including data analysis, BI tools, ETL techniques, and technology.
Technical expertise : Excellent SQL knowledge; fluency in Python is a plus. Professional expertise with query dialects including Redshift, MySQL, SAP HANA, BigQuery. Expertise with ETL and scheduling tools (Stitch, Fivetran, Airflow, Airbyte, etc.) and reporting and visualisation tools (Metabase, Tableau, etc.). Excellent application of software engineering best practices to analytics (version control, testing). Excellent understanding of data modelling best practices. Experience with modern reporting tools. Expertise with marketing‑based data models (e.g., Facebook Ads, Google Ads) and user behaviour data models (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics). Experience with privacy and data pseudonymisation.
Soft skills : Ability to interact with managers with maturity and tact. Mature judgment with strong interpersonal skills. Collaborative spirit able to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across diverse cultures, acting with credibility and diplomacy. Strong time‑management skills with the ability to plan ahead, anticipate requirements, problems and obstacles, and juggle competing priorities successfully and work to tight deadlines. Self‑motivated with a high degree of autonomy. Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the World Food Programme.
Language(s) : Excellent command of spoken and written English. Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language would be a plus (German, Arabic, Chinese, French).
