Overview

Wayback Labs is seeking a creative Founding Designer to join our early-stage team. We need someone with 2-10 years of experience in visual design, animation, brand personality, and graphic design, with some experience in UI, UX, and prototyping. You should be comfortable designing consumer mobile apps, working with rich media (photos, video, camera, audio), and be plugged into modern design trends and internet culture. Bonus points if you have a background in an agency/branding or started as an artist, and a track record of shipping your own side projects.

Responsibilities

• Excel at visual design, animation, brand personality, and graphic design, bringing wireframes to life with a unique and playful aesthetic.
• Take ownership of the product's visual identity, ensuring it pops and resonates with modern consumer trends.
• Work closely with the founder to rapidly prototype and iterate on new product ideas, translating abstract concepts into beautiful and functional designs.
• Design and refine consumer mobile app experiences, focusing on rich media interactions with photos, video, and camera functionalities.
• Lead design initiatives from concept to launch, contributing to a fast-paced, experimental, and low-structure environment.
• Continuously explore and integrate modern design trends, memes, and TikTok culture into the product's design language to ensure relevance and engagement.
