Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES), seeks an experienced Part-Time Environmental Field Technician to support landfill fieldwork activities in Rice Lake, Wisconsin and surrounding areas. In this role, the ideal candidate willExecute, supervise and document field aspects of environmental monitoring, site assessment, remediation and construction activities, primarily at landfill facilities.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Good working knowledge of landfill experience.
  • Applying mechanical knowledge and experience to troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
  • Using precision measuring equipment and various hand and power tools.
  • Documenting and supervising excavation, well-drilling, and various trade contractors.
  • Performing general labor and construction duties based on the project requirements.
  • Working with water wells, piping and pumps.
  • Maintaining equipment calibration logs.
  • Recording field notes to the specific task performed at each site location.
  • Handling general warehouse and maintenance duties.
  • Performing soil and groundwater sampling activities.
  • Following GES engineering, construction, and O&M policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to GES Health & Safety Standards in all field-related activities.

Skills and Requirements:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of related fieldwork experience. Mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Landfill experience is a requirement.
  • Strong technical and mechanical abilities.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training will be provided if this certification is not yet earned.This certification is required to perform the duties of this position.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to support project needs, and be agreeable to outdoor work.
  • Weekend availability is required, including daytime and/or overnight work and short-term travel.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be detail oriented and a team player.
