Your mission
As Director of Brand & Communications, you will take ownership of the strategic build, leadership, and ongoing development of the Impossible Founders brand. Your mission: position Impossible Founders as Germany’s and Europe’s leading DeepTech and science‑transfer platform — highly visible, trusted, and genuinely impactful for founders, academia, industry, and policymakers. You bring together strategic brand leadership, exceptional communications, and ecosystem thinking: you shape clear positioning, translate complex science into compelling narratives, and build the relationships and visibility that make the platform matter.
Brand & Positioning
- Develop and continuously evolve the Impossible Founders brand strategy
- Sharpen narrative, claim, messaging, and thought leadership across DeepTech, science transfer, and impact
- Ensure consistent brand leadership across all touchpoints
- Define a clear KPI framework and steer initiatives data‑driven (monitoring, review, adjustment)
Strategic Direction & KPI Framework
- Translate business goals into clear communications and impact objectives
- Define a robust KPI framework (awareness, engagement, share of voice, conversion)
- Build dashboards and reporting structures for management and board‑level stakeholders
- Run data‑based steering, regular reviews, and ongoing optimisation of measures
Communications & PR
- Own external communications, media relations, and thought leadership
- Develop PR storylines and secure coverage in relevant media (startup, business, science, policy)
- Position the CEO and key leaders as credible, high‑visibility voices in the ecosystem
Website
- Take strategic ownership of the website roadmap and the overall digital brand presence
- Collaborate with external agencies and partners (design, development, SEO)
- Ensure governance, accessibility, SEO, and long‑term scalability
Content & Channels
- Strategically lead LinkedIn, newsletter, and additional channels
- Build a scalable content architecture (funnel logic, personas, editorial planning)
- Ensure quality across all content (tone of voice, point of view, relevance)
- Regularly analyse performance and optimise formats and channels
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Build and lead the Brand & Communications team
- Work closely with programme leads, partners, funders, and the board
- Manage external partners, agencies, and freelancers
Events & Visibility
- Co‑own strategic decisions on event direction and positioning
- Deliver events in close collaboration with the team, partners, and service providers
- Lead communications for flagship events, programmes, and formats (Demo Days, Summits, Ambassador programmes)
- Develop event narratives and maximise media and content reuse before, during, and after events
Your profile
This role calls for someone who knows how to build a brand that carries impact — in public, in the ecosystem, and at decision‑maker level. You combine senior experience in brand and communications with a sharp understanding of innovation, tech, and ideally DeepTech or science‑driven ventures. Because Impossible Founders is in a strong build‑up phase, we’re looking for a hands‑on strategic leader: someone who can translate business goals into communication objectives, KPIs, and execution. Someone who is comfortable running performance‑driven channels, shaping PR and thought leadership, and aligning stakeholders from C‑level to public‑sector actors. You bring clarity, ambition, and an impact‑driven mindset.
What matters most to us
- Several years of senior‑level experience in brand, communications, PR, or marketing
- Background in startups, innovation, tech, or science
- Strong strategic thinking paired with real executional drive
- Excellent instinct for narratives, language, and positioning
- Proven ability to translate business goals into communication objectives, KPIs, and actionable initiatives
- Confident with digital channels, performance mechanics, and impact metrics
- Experience working with C‑level leaders, key stakeholders, and public‑sector actors
- Fluent German and English
Additionally, it would be a plus if you bring
- Experience in DeepTech is a strong plus
