Jobbeschreibung

Are you a commercially minded Legal Counsel with strong expertise in international contracts and a knack for practical, business-oriented legal support? We are working on a confidential mandate with a global industrial organisation seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to support its European operations and international commercial activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive lawyer who thrives in a fast‑paced, cross‑border environment and enjoys advising on complex contractual and operational matters.

The Opportunity

You will play a central role in advising the business on commercial, contractual, and regulatory issues across multiple jurisdictions. You will work closely with commercial, procurement, operational, and management teams, supporting strategic initiatives and helping the organisation manage risk effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including service, supply, subcontract, and framework contracts.
  • Provide day‑to‑day legal guidance to commercial, tendering, operations, and senior stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate legal, contractual, and operational risks.
  • Advise on intellectual property, data protection, dispute management, and general corporate matters.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant EU, UK, and international legislation and industry standards.
  • Manage and coordinate external counsel where required.
  • Collaborate with insurance, tax, procurement, and technical teams to support cross‑functional decision‑making.
  • Deliver internal legal training and help embed strong governance and contracting practices.
About You
  • Fully qualified lawyer with a Master’s degree in Law from Germany or another comparable European jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 4 years' post‑qualification experience, ideally gained in‑house or in private practice within industrial, engineering, construction, energy, or related sectors.
  • Strong background in commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.
  • Familiarity with industry‑standard contract forms (e.g., FIDIC, LOGIC, NEC, IMCA) is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical advice.
  • Highly organised, autonomous, and able to manage multiple topics in a dynamic setting.
  • Experience within offshore, maritime, renewable energy, or oil & gas industries is a plus.
Location, Flexibility & Travel

This role is based in northern Germany, close to Hamburg. It offers flexibility, with the option to combine on‑site presence with remote working. Regular presence in the office 2–3 times per week is encouraged to support close collaboration with key internal stakeholders. Occasional business travel may be required (around 20%), primarily within Europe, including visits to regional offices and operational sites. Travel may also be necessary to support client engagements, relationship management, and participation in commercial or contract negotiations.
