The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Category Analyst to support category strategy development and execution across the German market, with occasional collaboration across Europe. This role will focus on driving growth through data-driven insights, category lifecycle management, and cross-functional collaboration with procurement, sales, supply chain, and marketing teams. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills, market insight, and practical experience in e-commerce or retail to maximise category performance and profitability.

Responsibilities

• Monitor macro-industry trends in Germany and Europe, including competitor activity, policy changes, and market dynamics.
• Analyse consumer behaviour and preferences, and evaluate their impact on category strategy.
• Identify high-potential categories and market opportunities, providing actionable recommendations.
• Design business models and growth roadmaps based on category insights, defining KPIs and performance metrics.
• Regularly review and optimise category strategies, including pricing, promotional activities, and SKU assortment.
• Develop category lifecycle models to guide new product introduction, mature product management, and inventory clearance.
• Collaborate with procurement, sales, supply chain, and marketing teams to ensure alignment and feasibility of category strategies.
• Support product teams with user insights to optimise product detail pages and search rankings.
• Prepare reports and dashboards to track category performance and inform decision-making.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Marketing, International Trade, Statistics, Economics, E-commerce, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in category analysis, merchandising, or strategy within e-commerce, retail, or consulting.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Python, R) and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
• Familiarity with Google Analytics or similar platforms.
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong market insight and ability to translate data into actionable strategies.
• Fluent in English; additional European language skills are a plus.
