Position Summary

Reporting to the Education Program Coordinator, the Theatre Camp Counsellor will supervise a group of children or youth in a day camp setting. Theatre Camp Counsellors will assist in the implementation and delivery of camp activities, including a final performance, and ensure camper safety and security throughout the day. Follow policies and procedures, while delivering camp services. Work effectively with Education Program Coordinator, Camp Directors, Supervisors, peers, participants and the public.

Key Dates

Camp Training dates are as listed below:

  • June 4 - 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
  • June 10 - 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
  • June 20 - 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
  • June 25 - 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
  • Successful applicants may be notified of additional training for Theatre Staff

*The times noted above are tentative and will be confirmed in your Employment Offer*

Camp Dates
  • June 29 - August 28, 2026.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implement daily camp activities, including directing, choreography, staging a final performance at the end of each camp session
  • Be a source of support and encouragement to all campers
  • Modify camp activities to ensure campers with disabilities are able to participate in programs and be fully integrated into the camp setting.
  • Ensure there are a variety of activities in the camp program.
  • Ensure camp ratios are met at all times.
  • Work with the Camp Volunteers to ensure they are included in the programs and have various responsibilities.
  • Communicate and interact with participants and make everyone feel welcome
  • Ensure campers safety and security throughout the day.
  • Complete all necessary forms (accident, incident) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Represent the City of Richmond Hill by presenting yourself in a cooperative, organized, enthusiastic and well‑groomed manner.
  • Report to work promptly.
  • Wear assigned uniform and name tag.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and staff training sessions.
  • Know and understand the policies and procedures of the Community Services Department.
  • Maintain excellent public relations at all time, with staff and the public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
  • Candidates must be minimum 15 years of age.
  • Background experience and an eagerness to work with children
  • Leader In Training Certificate or equivalent
  • High Five PHCD Certification
  • Standard First Aid and CPR C
