How You Will Contribute:

As a Senior Test Engineer, you’ll lead the charge in advancing test methodologies and automation for sophisticated networking services. You’ll design and implement AI-powered testing tools and techniques to enhance efficiency and coverage, leveraging AI/ML and Gen-AI technologies to accelerate automated testing.

You’ll troubleshoot complex routing protocol issues, diagnose root causes, and collaborate with developers to ensure rapid defect resolution. By continuously improving test coverage, validation, and documentation, you’ll deliver high-quality, functionally excellent products that exceed customer expectations.

Working in an agile environment, you’ll actively participate in sprint planning and coordinate QA activities across scrums. Your expertise will drive the creation of risk-aware test plans, automation workflows, and metrics to ensure quality at every stage.

The Must Haves:

• Hands-on expertise in EVPN, Segment Routing, MPLS, BGP, ISIS, IPv6, and control plane technologies.

• Proven experience in feature test planning, automation, and risk-aware testing methodologies.

• Proficiency in Python programming, git, pytest, and test automation.

• Strong debugging skills with the ability to root cause and resolve complex defects.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to collaborate across teams and influence outcomes.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field (Master’s preferred).

The Assets:

• Experience developing automated tests using AI/ML tools, Gen-AI, and AI-driven testing methodologies.

• Familiarity with system and network virtualization technologies like Containers, SDN, and NFV.

• Knowledge of Ethernet services, fast switchover technologies, and advanced routing protocols.

• A customer-first mindset with a passion for delivering high-quality products and solutions.

Pay Range:

The salary range for this role in Ottawa is $115, 700 - $142, 300

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
