A regional healthcare provider is seeking a nursing professional responsible for providing expertise in clinical nursing and quality improvement. This role includes developing practice standards and guidelines and requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care outcomes. Ideal candidates should have a valid RN registration with the BC College of Nurses and experience in quality improvement and Indigenous relations. In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager, provides regional expertise on one of three areas of nursing depending on qualifications and assigned portfolio: a) Clinical Nursing; b) Nurses specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (NSWOC); or c) Case Management (subsidized services) professional practice standards and practice issues across Island Health service areas. Is accountable to ensure staff across disciplines and sectors attain excellence through the assessment, development, provision and evaluation of clinical and educational strategies that support and improve patient/client centred care and outcomes.
Develops, implements and evaluates guidelines, practice standards and associated resources and instruments for achieving and maintaining professional standards throughout the continuum of heath services as required by service area. Collaborates with colleagues in other disciplines and service areas to ensure appropriate staff development and participation in education, research, accreditation, utilization management and continuous quality improvement initiatives within Island Health portfolios and other jurisdictions.
Accountable to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
Travel is a requirement of this position and transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health.
