The Voice and Collaboration team is responsible for ensuring the reliable and high-quality performance of our wireline and wireless voice networks, providing customers with a superior experience with TELUS services. We offer Tier 3 technical and design support for the TELUS Voice Core network, including managing service development, upgrades, proactive monitoring, vendor management, network build, and consolidation activities.
What you’ll do
- Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel, outside vendors, etc., to provide technical assistance and support.
- Maintain network operations, software applications, operating systems, and perform regular maintenance.
- Manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services according to established objectives.
- Monitor and patch systems and servers related to the voice network to ensure service availability.
- Manage hardware and software upgrades, including lab testing and implementation with minimal customer impact.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions of voice network hardware, software applications, and security systems to resolve issues and restore services.
- Be on 24x7 on-call support for Tier 3 network implementation and support.
- Manage network inventory (hardware, software, and circuits).
- Take ownership of network issues and collaborate with 3rd parties, technicians, and the Network Manager to resolve them strategically.
- Act as a project manager for network-related projects.
- Provide recommendations to the architecture team based on project and business analysis.
- Develop Test Plans and Method of Procedures (MOPs) for network installations.
Qualifications
What you bring
- Expertise in voice switching, including Genband / Ribbon C20, A2, G9, G6, SBCs.
- Advanced call tracing skills across multi-vendor VOIP networks.
- Extensive knowledge of Voice switching, TDM, SIP, H248, SIP Trunking, Hosted PBX, SIGTRAN, SS7, IP, MPLS, Segment Routing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Office suite.
- Experience with complex network infrastructure using technologies like Ribbon / Genband, SIP / H.248 Gateways, Cisco Broadworks.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis for outages and incidents.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret technical information and define issues.
- Proven ability to manage technical bridges and restore services during outages.
- Knowledge of technical architecture design, including Class 5 / 4 switching, tandem switches, STPs, media gateways, voice switches.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey technical information effectively.
- 7 to 10 years of experience in the Telecom industry.
- At least 5 years of operational experience in TDM/IP voice switching.
- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Telecommunications, IT, or equivalent experience.
Great-to-haves
- Knowledge of NFV and cloud services for Voice applications.
Location: Any major Canadian city
Salary Range: $92,000-$138,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 15%
