A leading gold mining company is looking for a Senior Project Engineer in Toronto. The role involves coordinating engineering activities in major capital projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and at least 15 years of relevant experience, preferably in mining. Strong project management and analytical skills are essential. This initially 18-month contract may extend into the Construction Phase, with some travel to the project site in Red Lake, Ontario.

In March 2022 Kinross acquired Great Bear Resources and its flagship Great Bear project (GBR), located near Red Lake, Ontario. The Great Bear property is a greenfield, large-scale deposit with the potential for significant open pit and underground operations. In 2025, the project has moved into the detailed engineering and major equipment procurement phase. The Preliminary Economic Assessment released in September 2024 indicated a total initial project capital of $1.4B.
The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for the coordination and interface management of detailed engineering and field engineering activities to ensure quality and on time delivery of engineering deliverables. The role reports to the GBR Project Engineering Manager and will work closely with GBR Engineering Leads, Kinross Technical Services Engineering (KTS), Engineering Consultants, Vendors and other subject matter experts.
This role is based in Toronto or on rotation to Toronto, with occasional travel to the Project site in Red Lake.
It is initially an 18-month contract, but may be extended into the Construction Phase, and if so, the role would be on rotation to the project site in Red Lake, Ontario.
