Overview

Position title: Youth Recovery Support - Awake Overnight

Job type: Permanent, full-time

Reporting to: Manager of the Supportive Recovery Program

About us: We open doors for youth and prevent adult homelessness. We serve at-risk youth experiencing homelessness, aging out of care, or fleeing violence in the home. Young adults who need a place to call home and people who believe in them. We offer safe housing, community, and support to help youth make healthy choices and shift toward a brighter future.

Responsibilities

The Youth Recovery Support Worker position will work with youth within the Supportive Recovery Program. The goal of the program is to build protective factors and mitigate risk factors for youth who have identified substance use as a barrier in their life. The role includes supporting youth with life skills and providing assistance with their individualized case plan around substance use and recovery goals. This role will work with the team in a holistic approach regarding each youth’s mental health, life skills, community supports, housing and other identified areas. Youth Recovery Support Workers will help prepare recovery programming and facilitate other activities such as outings, physical education, and life skills development.

This is a permanent, full-time position working Thursday to Saturday and every other Wednesday from 10:00pm to 8:00am. The hourly wage range is $26.74 - $31.00 per hour dependent on experience and related skills. The Awake Overnight position receives a $2.00 premium in addition to the base hourly wage for working awake overnight shifts. The successful candidate can expect to enter the organization no higher than the midpoint of the compensation range.

Qualifications
  • Possess a relevant bachelor’s degree such as Social Work or Child & Youth Care and have a minimum of 2-3 years experience working with vulnerable populations and at-risk youth. Other combinations of education, experience and training may be considered
  • Experience working within the recovery and addiction community, knowledge of SMART Recovery programming is an asset
  • Experience facilitating programming is an asset
  • ASIST training
  • NVCI training
Working Conditions
  • Operates out of the Supportive Recovery Program site, or other Threshold location with notice
  • 10-hour shifts, Thursday to Saturday and every other Wednesday from 10:00pm to 8:00am
  • Threshold will provide a yearly training and professional development allowance
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a wraparound care team
  • This role requires the ability to move actively and continuously, including walking, bending, lifting, and participating in a variety of physical activities alongside youth, supporting and facilitating group physical education sessions
Special Requirements
  • Up-to-date Emergency 1st Aid certificate
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Able to provide up-to-date Immunization records
  • Criminal Record Check completed by and satisfactory to Threshold, and sign Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement
