Position Overview:

The Youth Program Coordinator, reporting to the Youth Programs Manager, is responsible for coordinating mentoring relationships for youth, as well as planning, organizing, and overseeing all youth-related program activities. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining program documentation, ensuring that key deadlines are met and implementing the mentorship and leadership goals of the program.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with external organizations to expand and enhance program’s reach and efficiency.
  • Work closely with Youth Programs Manager to deliver leadership activities including events, workshops and trainings.
  • Provide regular updates to the Youth Programs Manager on program progress.
  • Coordinate mentorship activities including recruitment, matching, supporting and supervision of mentor mentee relationships.
  • Liaise with facilities and stakeholders to effectively deliver all program activities.
  • Oversee group mentoring, events, data collection, and program evaluation.
  • Orient and train volunteers ensuring clarity and understanding of program guidelines.
  • Represent the program at community meetings and events
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for volunteers and participants in the program.
  • Collect qualitative and quantitative data for program evaluation and other purposes.
  • Prepare program reports
  • Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma related to human services (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Education).
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and clear understanding of barriers and challenges faced by African/Black youths.
  • Experience with program coordination, project planning and event management.
  • Excellent organization, time management and priority-setting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and google suite.
  • The following will be considered as assets:
    • Experience with intake and assessment of youth and adults.
    • Capacity to speak French or another major African language.
    • Database experience: data entry, database management, tracking participant data,
    • Experience with the use of social media for networking and marketing purposes.

Requirements

  • 40 hours/week which will involve some weekday evening and/or weekend hours.
  • Applicant must be available to work Thursdays 6pm - 8pm and Sundays 4pm - 6pm.
  • Applicant must own a vehicle with valid driver’s license and insurance.
