As an Intern reporting to the Environment Coordinator, you'll be integrated into the Environment Department and collaborate closely with other Departments of the operation. Your role will involve ensuring the achievement of set goals and objectives while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental values.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct sampling, monitoring, and inspections along the Meliadine roads and sites to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Installing and overseeing the implementation of mitigation measures to minimize environmental impact.
  • Drafting detailed reports documenting findings and recommendations. Developing comprehensive work plans for environmental initiatives and projects.
  • Assisting in organizing and facilitating meetings with stakeholders to address reported issues and concerns.
  • Maintaining open communication channels between the Environment Department and other relevant departments.
Your Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Environmental Science or Engineering, or related field.
  • Currently enrolled in Environmental Technician college program or related field.
  • Students must be enrolled in a formal Co-op program.
  • Demonstrated versatility and adaptability in conducting wildlife, vegetation, air, soil, and water sampling, along with other tasks related to mine sites and roads.
  • A strong ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as a member of a team is required.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to handle change.
  • Demonstrate a high level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills including verbal and written as well as presentation skills required.
  • Able to work outside in the summer and the winter.
  • Promote a safety mindset and approach to ensure that all projects and activities carried out comply with safety regulations and AEM standards.

Please note that English is the official working language at Meliadine.

Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will cover other traveling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
