Job Summary:

Building truck equipment since 1960, we have experience producinga full line of snowplows, combination dump bodies, conventional dump bodies, material spreaders, de-icing material application equipment, as well as our industry disrupting Tow Plow.Viking-Cives is also a leading distributor of various hydraulic systems, dump bodies, and an assortment of related truck equipment.We represent many of the leading truck equipment manufacturers throughout North America and have the knowledge and experience to install even the most complicated snow and ice truck equipment packages. In Canada, our products are built and installed through our main plant in Mount Forest, Ontario, and through our factory stores in Calgary and Edmonton. In this role, the successful person will weld and install snow & ice removal products, mechanical equipment, dump bodies, and more on standard and customized commercial trucks

Job Duties: Installation – Welder/Mechanical Installer . (Some personal tools required)

  • Fabrication, in position and out of position welding – MIG, Flux Core, Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel
  • TIG and Aluminum welding an asset but not required
  • Read and interpret Viking-Cives drawings, routings, etc regarding manufactured product and required welding
  • Maintain accurate dimensional tolerances set forth on drawings.
  • Installation of dump bodies, snowplows, spreaders, etc. on commercial trucks
  • Handle heavy materials manually or with overhead cranes in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Complete required documentation for time, materials used, etc.
  • Capability of using measuring equipment (tape measure, framing square, straight edge, calipers, laser level).
  • Some use of air/electric tools, paint, shop measuring tools & cutting equipment
  • Produce quality product in a safe manner while focusing on given standards
  • Adhere to and implement proper welding procedures and safety practices
  • Maintain daily cleanliness of work area
  • Use bandsaw, ironworker, drill press as required
  • Clean and maintain welding equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety practices and report any unsafe conditions, broken or malfunctioning equipment.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Mechanical skills
  • Knowledge in fluid power and hydraulic systems is an asset but not required
  • Knowledge in 12V and 24V electrical systems, truck air systems is an asset but not required
  • Hands-on experience working with heavy-duty commercial vehicle equipment and accessories preferred
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics
  • Flexible, dedicated, motivated, challenge seeker, results driven
  • Ability to work with others and independently
  • Class 5 Drivers License

Education/Experience:

  • Welding, Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic installation experience/knowledge is an asset.
  • Welding apprentice or journeyman
