About The Position

The Warehouse Lead Hand provides support to the Warehouse Manager in the areas of storage, retrieval and shipping of pulp and rejects samples, oversees discard activities, provides strict control of sample movements, cleaning, and safety and ensures standard operating procedures are strictly followed in the performance of all the activities in the warehouse.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Prepare packaging for outgoing shipments of pulp samples and rejects while ensuring proper protection of same;
  • Sorting, locating and retrieving sample pulp and rejects from the warehouse facility using forklift;
  • Accurate data entry and inventory control of sample rejects, pulps, scan pallets and bins;
  • Coordinate the pulp and reject storage, disposal and return to clients in a timely manner;
  • Ensure sample records and supplies are complete and accurate;
  • Conduct local deliveries and pick-ups as needed;
  • Oversees maintenance of vehicle inspection logs;
  • Conduct inventory counts as requested;
  • Oversees the storage of supplies in the warehouse area;
  • Provide inventory count to invoice clients for their pulp and reject storage;
  • Provide daily productivity information as requested by manager;
  • Creates written reports;
  • Conducts crew talks and ensures all isles and safety zones are free of obstruction;
  • Conducts daily racking and equipment pre-operation inspection;
  • Liaise with clients and respond to client inquiries;
  • Responsible for providing training to new staff;
  • Other general shipping, receiving and supplies warehousing functions as needed;
  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately and thoroughly;
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, high volume environment;
  • Intermediate understanding of computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite);
  • Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal and ability to read English;
  • Ability to work within a team environment;
  • Comfortable with writing report;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Good hand eye coordination;
Required Qualifications
  • Grade 12 diploma preferred;
  • Applicable Provincial driver’s license with clean driving history required;
  • Forklift license and experience operating a forklift required;
  • Minimum two years previous warehouse and shipping & receiving experience required;
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;
  • Extensive walking or movement, bending, kneeling, and working with machines;
  • Frequently wearing a dust mask;
  • Comfortable in environments with high noise levels;
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for a full shift;Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.
