Ontario Health at Home is looking for a senior health care leader with an in depth knowledge of the community health sector and the demonstrated commitment to lead the improvement of patient experience through high quality care.

The Vice President, Patient Services Regional Lead provides strategic leadership, direction, coordination and oversight of the development, implementation and evaluation of home and community care programs and services. This position is accountable for achieving home and community care objectives and leading the commitment to improve patient experience by providing quality care and ensuring value for money and earning the trust of the health system and community partners to support patients across the continuum of care.

Reporting to the Chief Patient Services Officer, and with oversight for a team of Patient Services Vice Presidents, this position will lead strategic planning and delivery of home and community care services, which includes accountability for building and maintaining relationships with community health partners and contracted provider agencies. This position will also be responsible for creating strategic partnerships with other organizations within the healthcare sector, achieving strategic and annual performance objectives and seamlessly developing and integrating new programs and services. The Vice President, Patient Services Regional Lead will be the first point of contact for escalating emerging issues and ensuring the Chief Patient Services Officer is apprised of initiatives, programs, and issues within a specific region and portfolio. The Vice President, Patient Services Regional Lead will leverage their experience and expertise to provide development support to other Vice Presidents within their region and portfolio.

What will you do?

• Provides strategic leadership and guidance to the Patient Services Vice Presidents within the designated region on applicable programs, services and regional issues, delivering key mentorship to build and motivate a high performing team
• Uses an evidence-based framework and best practices to provide strategic direction and recommendations on programs and initiatives specific to the region and portfolio
• Facilitates the translation of Ministry and Ontario Heath Operational Direction into the establishment of meaningful strategic and business initiatives. Guides the strategic planning, ensuring that the framework focuses on strategic business drivers
• Acts as the first escalation point for day to day Patient Services matters occurring within the region and provincial portfolio
• Ensures Chief Patient Services Officer is apprised of issues, risks, and changes occurring within the region and provincial portfolio in a timely manner
• Supports the region’s Patient Services teams in ensuring consistency and harmonization of policies, programs, and processes
• Acts as a key representative of the designated region and portfolio on internal and external committees and meetings
• Develops and fosters strategic partnerships with Ontario Health and other System partners executive leadership to support provincial priorities and initiatives
• Coordinates Patient Services regional and provincial reports related to the portfolio
• Accountable for relevant SAA indicators, including supporting the Patient Services Leadership team in developing and implementing strategies that will support achieving targets
• Presents and communicates with the broader Executive Leadership Team along with the CEO and Board of Directors as required

What must you have?

• University degree in a healthcare discipline; Master’s degree an asset
• Ongoing membership in good standing as a Regulated Health Professional with applicable College
• Post-secondary/ Master’s degree in health administration, public administration or related field required
• Minimum 10 to 15 years of senior management experience in the community health sector (governmental; non-governmental; not-for-profit; and commercial) ideally demonstrated in a large and complex health and human service delivery organization
• Significant experience in a patient services healthcare role with demonstrated experience in strategic leadership positions involving business and partnership development
• Innovator with the ability to translate knowledge of health care issues, environmental factors and organizational behaviour theory into practical application towards the goal of a high quality, accessible, integrated and sustainable health care system
• Extensive knowledge of the government’s health care agenda and the evolving role of Ontario Health atHome within the health care sector
• In-depth understanding of service delivery models, emerging issues and future opportunities in healthcare
• Ability to build multi-year strategic plans at the portfolio level that align with the Ministry's healthcare agenda
• Evidence of experience in the successful development, implementation and monitoring of operational, performance, accountability and quality improvement initiatives at both strategic and operational levels
• Demonstrated ability to build, enhance and maintain strategic relationships with community organizations, local and provincial governments, health service providers and others
• Highly-developed change management skills to lead Ontario Health atHome’s evolving care coordination delivery role and models
• Expert knowledge of performance metrics, analysis and reporting, including financial data, quality indicators and quality improvement initiatives
• Superior communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to work with staff, patients, and service providers at the executive level to resolve complex problems, complaints and appeals
• Excellent collaboration skills to work with a variety of stakeholders, service providers, and Ontario Health atHome colleagues and staff in discussing policy issues and change strategies
• We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy. As a condition of employment, all employees are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination status prior to start date

• Fluency in French is an asset
