Responsibilities Tasks
  • Collect samples and perform other laboratory tests
  • Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery
  • Produce diagnostic radiographs
  • Assist veterinarian before, during and after surgery
  • Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under direction of veterinarian
  • Administer treatments as prescribed by veterinarian
  • Counsel clients on animal health care
  • Perform routine animal dental procedures and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry
  • Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals
  • Diagnose diseases or abnormal conditions in individual animals, herds and flocks through physical examinations or laboratory tests
  • Advise clients on feeding, housing, behaviour, breeding, hygiene and general care of animals
  • Provide a range of veterinary services including obstetrics, dentistry and euthanasia
