Overview

Summary As our Truck and Transport Mechanic, you will maintain and repair heavy-duty vehicles to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable fleet performance. You will support operational goals through preventative maintenance, accurate diagnostics, and adherence to safety standards.

About Us The Keno Hill mine, located within the Keno Hill Silver District in Canada’s Yukon Territory. Keno Hill is one of the highest-grade silver districts in the world, located 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse, and lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun. It comprises 242 square kilometres with numerous mineral deposits and more than 35 historical past-producing mine sites. Keno Hill is expected to produce 2.7-3.1 million ounces of silver in 2025 as the mine ramps up production.

The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a history as a distinguished precious metals producer. Keno Hill is seeking new team members committed to professional growth and success.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in trucks and transport vehicles.
  • Work with mobile planners to ensure work orders are completed with detail and planned and scheduled work.
  • Conduct inspections and repairs in compliance with manufacturer specifications, company standards, and government regulations.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot engine and system faults.
  • Replace or repair worn or damaged parts including engines, transmissions, suspension components, brakes, and lighting systems.
  • Maintain detailed service records and work logs.
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and departments to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Promote an environmentally friendly culture and practices.
  • Foster a strong safety culture by promoting and exemplifying safe work practices.

Qualifications
  • Valid Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic – Truck and Transport Certification, or equivalent.
  • Certification to perform Preventative Maintenance Vehicle Inspections (PMVI) required.
  • 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a remote camp environment.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Valid class 1 or 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement is preferred.
  • Physically fit to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Pre-employment

Work Environment

Employees will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including snow and ice, and extreme temperatures. The work environment may involve contact with potentially hazardous wildlife, moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the use of explosives. There is also a risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibration. Noise levels can be loud depending on the task or location on site.

Work Location & Schedule

This is a fly-in fly-out position based at a remote mining camp, operating on a rotational schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off. Camp accommodations and meals are provided. Travel to and from the mine site is arranged through a designated travel agency and coordinated from approved flight hubs. We are primarily seeking candidates who reside in the Yukon, British Columbia, and Alberta, particularly near major transportation centers within these regions.
