Under the responsibility of the Director, Purchasing and Transportation MAPEI Americas, the position holder manages and coordinates activities within the transportation network for MAPEI Canada. Manages freight spending and quality of services provided. This includes high volume/high velocity inbound and outbound product movement across Canada.
Main tasks and responsabilities:
- Manages cost of transportation; supports overall financial goals; fully utilizes transportation assets to reduce freight costs whenever possible; reviews general ledger for all charges dealing with transportation.
- Is responsible for compliance and knowledge of Transport Canada regulations, C-TPAT security program and audits, and other safety standards.
- Implements and maintains compliance of corporate standard operating procedures, such as carrier qualification, freight claims or periodical evaluation.
- Supports Warehouse Manager with resolution of issues between warehousing, customer service and transportation. Supports all plants on best practices related to shipping and freight planning.
- Provides training as needed to maintain an efficient and knowledgeable work force
- Optimizes freight purchasing (ensure best rates are available) by continually negotiating with carriers. Leverages synergies with other MAPEI subsidiaries and determines most convenient freight terms.
- Optimizes material movements to ensure maximum utilization of equipment capacity. Reviews supply network and coordinates actions to improve cost and service to customers.
- Reports freight spending monthly and analyzes tendencies. Provides solutions that solve negative trends; and ensures full implementation of solution(s) provided.
- Optimizes freight cost by ensuring the optimal footprint of products’ availability in each of MAPEI’s warehousing locations.
- Analyzes supply chain processes and recommends changes related to increased efficiencies
- Manages and support TMS system (Netmover or other) with other corporate functions and end users.
- Performs other tasks as needed.
Skills and competencies required:
- College Degree (CD) in supplying, logistic and transportation with 5 years of experience in a similar position or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 3 years of experience in a similar position
- Languages spoken and written: English and French
- Valid drivers’ license
