Job description

As the Trade Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for the ongoing development and administration of HCM’s trade compliance and operations. You will develop, implement and manage HCM’s trade compliance program, ensuring HCM meets Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) guidelines and requirements. The successful candidate will possess excellent data analysis skills, enjoy collaborating with various stakeholders, and have a strong understanding of international trade regulations.

Salary Range: $82,900.00-$87,300.00 annually (paid overtime and bonuses in addition)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage HCM trade compliance programs
  • Ensure Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) guidelines and requirements are met
  • Co-ordinate customs CTPAT & PIP/CSA certification
  • Support Inbound and outbound shipment trade and compliance requirements
  • Act as a liaison with Honda Canada, American Honda Motor Co., Honda Trading, and Livingston
  • Ensure proper classification of machinery and goods in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) for Canada and the USA.
  • Manage and issue certificates of origin and ensure compliance with CUSMA for imports and exports.
  • Act as the primary representative for CBSA, CBP, customers, and third-party audit requests.
  • Support duty drawback or remission programs and ensure proper application.
  • Investigating and resolving any compliance issues or discrepancies.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Trade, Customs, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in trade compliance or related field
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel; Use advanced functions (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables), manage and format data

Preferred:

  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) and/or Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS)
  • Previous experience in Brokerage, Duty and Tariff Mitigation, and Supply Chain
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Bill of Material (BOM) interpretation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects / assignments requiring identification of objectives, resources and/or approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and evaluate results - strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated previous experience preparing and delivering presentations
  • Excellent organizational skills - ability to manage multiple conflicting demands
  • Ability to investigate problems, develop solutions, and obtain results
  • Experience reporting measurables to higher level management
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
