Your primary responsibility is to support the planning, facilitation, documentation, and evaluation of therapeutic recreation and leisure programs for older adults in supportive living or long term care. You will support residents with dementia, complex health conditions, and other cognitive, emotional, or physical challenges, helping to promote engagement, social connection, and overall well‑being through person‑centered recreation interventions. Facilitate and adapt one‑to‑one, small group, and large group therapeutic recreation programs based on residents’ goals, abilities, and preferences. Participate in program planning, offering input based on resident interests, observations, seasonal events, and best practices in therapeutic recreation. Encourage resident involvement and foster a sense of belonging through engaging and inclusive leisure activities. Share observations and insights to support ongoing assessment, care planning, and interdisciplinary communication. Implement programs in collaboration with the Recreation Therapist and team. Document and chart according to AHS policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring accurate, timely, and confidential recording of resident participation and progress toward goals. Contribute to resident assessments and care conferences by sharing observations and insights related to leisure engagement, well‑being, and quality of life.

Description

This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency.
