Job description

The City of Elliot Lake is seeking a Labourer to join our Public Works Department. In this position, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping our city running smoothly, from road repairs to snow removal and everything in between. You’ll be part of a dynamic team that works together to provide essential services to the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform essential labour duties including flagging traffic, water and sewer repairs, manual snow removal, sanding, and assisting with road maintenance (asphalt, sodding, curb stop repairs, and concrete repairs).
  • Operate various tools and equipment for general municipal maintenance, such as compressors, jackhammers, vibratory rollers, pumps, tar kettles, chainsaws, and plow attachments.
  • Report any issues encountered while completing job assignments and ensure all equipment and tools are well‑maintained and in working condition.
  • Follow safety protocols in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, City Health and Safety policies, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class "DZ" Ontario Driver’s License
  • Strong ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently or as part of a team
  • Proven record of excellent work performance and reliability
  • Ability to safely operate tools and equipment used in municipal maintenance
