Join CAPREIT as a Technician in Integrated Pest Management in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Reports To: Team Lead, Integrated Pest Management

Role Summary:

The Technician implements pest treatment plans, conducts inspections, and documents findings across residential properties. Using science-based, prevention-first methods, the technician helps reduce pest activity through monitoring, education, and safe pest control techniques. The role involves working closely with the IPM team, property staff, and residents to address pest issues promptly and maintain a healthy living environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply pest control treatments following IPM principles, safety standards, and legislative requirements.
  • Conduct inspections of units, common areas, and exteriors to identify pest activity and structural issues.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and work orders, prioritizing based on urgency.
  • Communicate with tenants, staff, and the IPM team about treatment processes and pest prevention.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and housekeeping to implement pest prevention measures.
  • Maintain equipment, tools, and pesticide inventory in safe and compliant condition.
  • Support the creation of service reports and documentation of pest cases.
  • Participate in training sessions and safety meetings to stay updated on pest management techniques and legislation.
  • Log service details and findings using handheld devices or software.
  • Follow health and safety protocols, including PPE use and chemical handling.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of pest control or related experience preferred.
  • Understanding of IPM principles, pest biology, and environmentally responsible methods.
  • Ability to identify pest activity and entry points.
  • Strong communication skills for educating tenants and staff.
  • Proficiency with digital logging systems.
  • Full G driver's license, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel between sites; car allowance provided.
