Overview
Technical Manager, OHdio Team (French Services) (Telework / Hybrid) — Contract position with CBC / Radio-Canada, based in Montreal, Quebec. This role is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Position Language Requirement French. Language skills : French (Reading), French (Speaking), French (Writing).
Responsibilities
- Manage the development team, supporting them on all technical aspects of the product to achieve objectives and priorities set by Management.
- Advise management in the analysis, design, planning, and evaluation of upstream work.
- Act as a catalyst in implementing technical solutions in collaboration with architects and the development team.
- Partner with directors and heads of Digital Media to ensure consistent direction.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, lead by example, and champion new ways of working.
- Identify, communicate, and resolve issues promptly; escalate when necessary and attempt resolution before escalation.
- Propose ideas and solutions to improve ways of working and participate in their implementation with management.
- Oversee global communication of all technical aspects of the OHdio product.
- Raise potential technical and human issues to Management; propose solutions and attempt resolution before escalation.
- Ensure proactive monitoring to propose improvements in OHdio product work methods.
- Guide technology choices based on portfolio needs and develop training plans as needed.
- Responsible for hiring talent into the team and supporting related hiring efforts.
- Set objectives, evaluate performance of developers, and integrate new talent into teams.
- Support management in project assignments and represent the team's needs during management decisions.
- Monitor employee progress; provide coaching / mentoring.
- Contribute to the internal and external visibility of the product.
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in team management in a specific expertise or product, or a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills; ability to navigate ambiguity and uncertainty.
- Ability to simplify technical concepts; good judgment, initiative, and autonomy.
- Ability to rally and create an inclusive, open, and collaborative work environment.
- Rigor, autonomy, and responsibility; knowledge of best practices in digital development workflows.
- Ability to manage complex situations considering strategic, financial, political, operational, and human aspects.
- Ability to ask the right questions at the right time; proficiency in French and English.

Contract and Location
This is a 12-month contract position, renewable annually. This regular position is not a consulting assignment but a long-term opportunity with CBC / Radio-Canada employee benefits. Primary location : 1000, Rue Papineau, Montreal, Quebec, H2K 0C2. Number of openings : 1. Work Schedule : Full time.
