Workplace Arrangements

This role will follow a hybrid remote/onsite schedule. Applicants for this role can expect to work on-site from our Ottawa Head Office, and our Johnstown and Brockville Distribution Centres on an as needed basis.

This is a full‑time, temporary opportunity with a contract end date of November 6, 2026.

What You'll Do

The Talent Acquisition Advisor plays a key role in supporting high‑volume and corporate recruitment for both our Distribution Centres (order pickers, forklift operators, cell operators, dispatchers) and our Home Office (analysts, buyers, advisors, assistants, and more). Whether you have prior talent acquisition experience or are bringing transferrable skills from customer service, retail, hospitality, sales, or business development, you will receive the tools and support needed to be successful.

In this fast‑paced role, you will manage the full recruitment cycle with a strong sense of urgency, exceptional attention to detail, and proactive communication with candidates and stakeholders.

  • Create strategic recruitment plans in collaboration with hiring managers and cross‑functional teams to ensure timely fulfillment of talent needs aligned with organizational goals
  • Influence candidates and hiring managers through compelling communication and effective guidance, fostering trust and alignment with organizational goals to secure top‑tier talent and enhance recruitment outcomes
  • Implement innovative recruitment strategies, collaborating with hiring managers and the HR team to attract top talent, enhance employer branding, and maintain competitiveness in the market
  • Conduct targeted talent sourcing, engaging with hiring managers and external talent pools to build robust candidate pipelines and secure top‑tier candidates
  • Provide training and support to hiring managers on recruitment tools, processes, and best practices, ensuring their effectiveness in managing the recruitment process
  • Negotiate the offer details (base salary, bonuses, vacation, hybrid or remote work) with the candidate keeping Giant Tiger’s compensation philosophy, market data research, and equity top of mind. Manage offer negotiations between hiring managers and selected candidates, ensuring compliance with compensation framework. Maintain accurate documentation throughout the offer process and employ effective communication with all parties
  • Proactively cultivate and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for future vacancies, leveraging networking opportunities and talent databases to support ongoing recruitment needs
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Giant Tiger by promoting the organization’s value proposition and employee benefits to prospective candidates throughout the recruitment process
  • Travel to client locations (stores, Giant Tiger Warehouses, Home Office, Buying Office) for quarterly satisfaction audits and learning opportunities
  • Travel to and host job fairs with the goal of boosting Giant Tiger’s employer brand and building a strong talent pipeline
What You'll Bring

We welcome applicants with Talent Acquisition experience OR transferable experience from customer service, retail, hospitality, business development, sales, or other people‑focused industries.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Talent Acquisition or related fields where strong communication, relationship‑building, and problem‑solving are key (business development, sales, customer service, retail, hospitality)
  • Proficiency in using an ATS, HRIS (Workday), and online job boards (e.g., LinkedIn, Indeed)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop positive working relationships with business leaders and stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively headhunt, screen, and assess candidates, ensuring alignment with position requirements and organizational culture
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and adapt communication style to different audiences
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to employ active listening to clients and candidates in order to efficiently make the offer and hire
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and with a strong sense of urgency
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on recruitment market trends and best practices
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency by anticipating needs, escalating issues promptly, and removing roadblocks
  • Postsecondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
