Support Service Manager – Full-Time - Nanaimo
Salary : $70,000 - $76,000 annually
Schedule : Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (37.5 hrs / week)
Location : 100 Eleventh St, Nanaimo, BC V9R 6R6, Canada
WestCana is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Support Service Manager to lead the food services and housekeeping teams at our long-term care facility in Nanaimo.

Experience and Qualifications We’re Looking For
- CSNM designation (or willingness to register and complete the certification).
- Leadership experience in a long term care or assisted living facility.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and relevant health authority guidelines preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and team leadership skills.
- Valid Food Safe Level 1 and WHMIS certification.
- Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check through the Ministry of Justice.

Support Service Manager Responsibilities
- Supervisory duties include but are not limited to recruiting, training and developing staff;
- Scheduling, assigning and monitoring work;
- Evaluating Team Member performance;
- Ensuring a healthy and safe work environment including adherence to company policies;
- Resolving conflicts and taking appropriate disciplinary action in consultation with the Operations Manager and Human Resources;
- Prepares and/or monitors the preparation of food menus and plans to ensure individual dietary needs / standards are met and costs remain within approved budget allocations;
- In collaboration with WestCana corporate policies and procedures, coordinates the best quality and most cost-effective products that will meet or exceed the individual and group dietary needs of the facility’s residents;
- Monitors all operating expenditures, as well as purchases and stores inventory;
- Ensures all audits are completed as required, and implements corresponding action plans to remedy any inefficiencies;
- Communicates safety concerns through team member meetings, huddles, memos and communication books;
- Facilitates WCB paperwork and corresponding return-to-work programs for staff who are injured in the workplace;
- Performs other related duties as assigned, including scheduling, inventory, month-end and weekly reports, audits and meetings (site/corporate, occupational health and safety, infection control, food committee).
