Overview

Insight Global is seeking a Power and Gas Quantitative Analyst to join a large power generation company in Calgary, Alberta, on a permanent basis, working hybrid, 3 days a week on site. This role focuses on supporting the PJM portfolio by developing pricing models, building analytical tools, and providing quantitative insights to optimize trading strategies. The successful candidate will work closely with traders and analysts to evaluate complex transactions, hedge positions, and analyze market data in the Eastern power markets. This is a highly quantitative role requiring strong analytical skills and familiarity with energy markets.

Qualifications
  • 1-4 years of experience in quantitative analysis, preferably in energy trading or financial markets
  • Strong understanding of power and gas markets, with specific experience in PJM.
  • Ability to price option models and evaluate exotic transactions.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis and model development.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with data platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks.
  • Familiarity with market data tools such as Yes Energy and Genscape.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (Math, Statistics, Computer Engineering, Finance, or related field). - Knowledge of Eastern power markets beyond PJM.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a quantitative field.
