Job description
Student – Parks Department

The City of West Kelowna has openings for students working in the Parks department. The students will perform a variety of tasks assisting full‑time Parks staff in the day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of City properties such as planting shrubs and flowers, weed whacking and mowing, painting and repairs, beach and park clean‑up.

Responsibilities

Assist full‑time Parks staff with day‑to‑day tasks including planting, weed whacking, mowing, painting, repairs, beach and park clean‑up and any other general maintenance duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Enrolled in a post‑secondary institution or attending college or university during the last school term and returning to your studies in the subsequent academic year
  • Related experience would be considered an asset
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Good physical condition
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License preferred; Driver Abstract required when applying
Compensation & Schedule

Students will work from May until the end of August, 40 hours per week, 7:00 am–3:30 pm. Hourly rate: $20.23 plus 14% in lieu pay. Returning students or 2nd/3rd‑year students: $23.66/hr plus 14% in lieu. Positions require shift work and/or weekend shifts.
