WSP is currently seeking a passionate Structural Restoration Engineer to join our Structural Restoration Engineering Group, located at our Vancouver office. Reporting to a Senior Engineer, Structural Restoration, this position will be responsible for working with a multi-disciplinary team to take innovative design solutions from the proposal stage through to constructed projects for clients in a wide variety of Sectors. This role will include a significant client facing component where the ability to grow industry networks will be considered an asset.

What you’ll do
- Lead projects from initial contact with the client to proposal through close out of the project
- Have fun developing elegant solutions for heritage structures and existing buildings, including upgrades and expansions to structures
- Oversee and investigate structural assessments of existing structures in need of repair or condition assessment
- Find creative solutions in complex environments in response to as-built site conditions or challenging project constraints in collaboration with the project team and other disciplines
- Perform engineering calculations and assessments for wood, steel, concrete and masonry structures with some guidance from Senior Engineers
- Demonstrate strong capabilities in seismic design, as well as intimate knowledge of both the BCBC and NBC, especially how it relates to upgrades and additions of existing structures
- Develop and submit proposals to existing and future clients
- Mentor junior team members to encourage team engagement and growth
- Oversee the execution of efficient and accurate project deliverables to exceptional standards
- Oversee preparation of detail drawings, sections and standard details, and ensure quality adherence
- Oversee and prepare written reports and drawings packages, as it suits the needs of each specific project and client
- Advance the notion of computational design and interactions between graphical and analytical structural models
- Occasional travel within Canada on occasion for project-related work, site assessments and site support
- Conduct site inspections, condition assessments, reporting, specifications and proposals
- A proactive approach to diversity and inclusion, both in the work environment and in developing designs
About you
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering
- Registered Professional Engineer with EGBC
- 5+ years of experience in Structural Engineering with experience in Structural Restoration
- Computational design skills, and strength in the following software – Etabs, SAP2000, RAM and/or Robot. Familiarity with Dynamo, Grasshopper
- Design experience on a variety of project types including some of the following – institutional, healthcare science, government, transportation, industrial or the private sector commercial, residential and strata industry
- Dedicated team player with strong people skills, empathetic mindset and service excellence
- Excellent organizational and technical writing skills
Salary range (in British Columbia): $105,800 to 145,400
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
